Structured Cabling

The Information Pipeline

structured cabling

Structured cabling is the "plumbing" for technology systems. It allows information to flow between technology devices. A quality structured cabling installation ensures trouble free, uninterrupted transmission of data. ConeXus World provides you with Structured Cabling installations that meet industry standards through local resources that you trust.

Structured cabling falls into six subsystems:

1.Entrance Facilities are where the building interfaces with the outside world.

2.Equipment Rooms contain equipment which serve the users inside the building.

3.Telecommunications Rooms house telecommunication equipment which connect the backbone and the horizontal cabling subsystems.

4.Backbone Cabling connect between the entrance facilities, equipment rooms and telecommunications rooms.

5.Horizontal Cabling connect telecommunications rooms to individual outlets or work areas on the floor.

6.Work-Area Components connect end-user equipment to outlets of the horizontal cabling system.

Structured Cabling :

  • Voice and Data Premises
  • CCTV
  • Control Wiring
  • Public Address
  • Fiber to – the – desk/Last Mile
  • Outside Plant Cabling
  • Cable & Termination Records
  • Carrier Circuit Installation

Voice and Data Premises
In telecommunication, on-premises wiring is customer-owned communications transmission lines. It is also called customer premises wiring (CPW). The transmission lines can be metallic (copper) or optical fiber, and may be installed within or between buildings.

Premises wiring may consist of horizontal wiring, vertical wiring, and backbone wiring. It may extend from the point-of-entry to user work areas. Any type of communications or information technology wiring will be considered premises wiring, including telephone, computer/data, intercom, closed-circuit television, etc.

Premise networks are wired worldwide, across every industry, in both small and large scale applications. Any type or number of topologies may be used -- star, bus, ring, etc.

CCTV
(Close Circuit television : Survailance television - Video survaillance & close circuit television (internal) - Video Cabling)
CCTV (Closed Cicuit Television) is an on premise visual surveillance technologyutilizing cameras to monitor any given area. The video can be black and white or color, day or night, and can be viewed real time on premise or from anywhere in the world via internet or recorded for future viewing or reference. The cabling consists of Coax, Cat 5/6 and or optic.

Control Wiring
Control wiring is low voltage, on premise wiring for security devices, heating & air, non communication wire, etc. The cabling consists of various types of low voltage copper cable.

Public Address
A public address system (PA system) is an electronic amplification / speaker system used to reinforce a sound source, e.g., a person giving a speech, a DJ playing prerecorded music, and distributing the sound throughout a venue or building. . The cabling consists of various types of low voltage copper cable.

Fiber-To-The-Desk/Last Mile
The installation of optical fiber throughout a complete network - negating the use of copper as a transport medium. Essentially an optical LAN, this solution can eliminate the need for active electronics thus reducing the power and heating / cooling at the network endpoints.

Outside Plant Cabling
Any wiring external to the building is outside plant cabling. All of the physical cabling and supporting infrastructure (such as conduit, cabinets, tower or poles), and any associated hardware (such as repeaters) located between a demarcation point in a switching facility and a demarcation point in another
switching center or customer premises..

Cable & Termination Records
Documentation supporting cabling installations such as test results, red-line drawings, architectural finished drawings, manufacturer data sheets.

Carrier Circuit Installation
ILEC and CLEC communication circuit installation to the facility. Examples are : T1, T3, SONET etc.
